40th Anniversary Republic of Malta Silver Proof
A silver coin commemorating the 40th Anniversary from when the Maltese Constitution was amended and Malta became a Republic on the 13th December 1974. The obverse of the coin shows the coat of arms of Malta, which is reproduced in colour. The reverse of the coin shows the first President of Malta Sir Anthony Mamo flanked by the Prime Minister Dominic Mintoff. President Mamo is shown reading a message to the public gathered on St George's Square, Valletta to celebrate the proclamation of the Republic on 13 December 1974. The coin was designed and engraved by the Maltese artist, Noel Galea Bason.
