On 25 - 27 October 1947, the women of Malta exercised for the first time the right to vote. This had been enshrined in the 1947 Constitution, which was promulgated in September 1947 and which reconstituted self-government to Malta.
The Central Bank of Malta is issuing a silver coin to mark the 70th Anniversary of this significant achievement.
